Grace Note for January 10, 2016

In Death Valley there is a place known as Dante's View. On very clear days, the highest and lowest points in the contiguous 48 states of the United States: Mount Whitney 4,421 14,505 feet high and Bad Water −282 feet can be seen. One direction leads to the lowest and the other direction to the highest. From that point, called Dante's View, any movement must be in one or the other direction.

There are many times in life when we stand where the ways part and where choices must be made. It is often easier to trip along downhill than to walk the steady, or maybe rocky, uphill path. But the path uphill leads to light and life; while the downhill way leads to a barren place of shadow and thirst. Which way will you choose today? Which way will you choose in this New Year?
