Secured to most cars on the road today is a vivid reminder that life is much briefer than we expect. When you change lanes to the right, the mirror on the passenger’s side reminds you that “objects are closer than they appear.”
Not only is that true on the road, but it’s equally true in life. We frequently live with the erroneous belief that there will be plenty of time to encourage a friend, communicate our love to a spouse or child, share the gospel with a lost world, or develop Godly traits. The truth is, the window of opportunity through which we must accomplish these tasks is far closer than it appears.
As someone has said, “We will have all of eternity to celebrate victories, but only a few hours before sunset in which to win them.” Life’s opportunities are closer than they appear so live each day with Christlike urgency.
“So be careful to live your life wisely, not foolishly. Take advantage of every opportunity because these are evil times. Because of this, don’t be ignorant, but understand the Lord’s will.” Ephesians 5:15-17 CEB
