Grace Note for November 5, 2015

Did you hear about the golfer who was having a terrible day on the course and finally lost it on the eighteenth hole? He broke his putter, threw the rest of his clubs in the lake, and started screaming, “I've got to give it up!” The caddie asked, “Give up golf?” “No,” the duffer shouted back, “the ministry!”

A pastor went out for a round of golf with some more seasoned players in his church. He shot his usual game of military golf (left, right, left, right) and lost several sleeves of balls in the process. His previous loses were nothing in comparison to a short water hole where he baptized four new Titleist golf balls. One guy asked, “Pastor, why don’t you use an old ball on these water holes?” The minister teed up another brand-new ball and said, “Believe me, the way I play I never have an old ball!”

This pastor could appreciate Hank Aaron’s sentiments on the game of golf. The home run king said, “It took me seventeen years to get three thousand hits in baseball. In golf, it took just one afternoon.”
