Grace Note for October 7, 2017
Psalm 103:12 states, “As far as east is from west—that’s how far God has removed our sin from us.” What is the distance from east to west? The scope of God’s forgiveness is better explained when you think of embarking on an airline flight to the west. If you start flying west, you can continue in that direction without ever reaching the east. No matter how long you fly toward the west and no matter how many times you circle the globe you will never be heading east.
If you took a flight north you would eventually hit the North Pole and then start heading south. At that point, north meets south. God didn’t say our sins have been removed as far as the north is from the south. When God spoke of his unlimited love and forgiveness he used the earth’s latitude, not its longitude.
